Governor’s Cup Winner Joins Acorn Growth Companies

Acorn Growth Companies announced today that Blake Ferrell has been appointed to the position of Manager of Finance and Business Services for the firm, its affiliates and portfolio companies.

Ferrell graduated from Oklahoma State University with an Honors degree in Accounting in the spring of 2006.  In his last semester at Oklahoma State, he took first place in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup business plan competition with fellow OSU grad, Joseph Pruitt.

“We are excited about Blake’s contribution to Acorn,” said Jeff Davis, a Partner in Acorn. “Blake is bright and articulate and will do well in this position. He will support the activities of Acorn’s investment funds and various portfolio companies.”

During his time at OSU, he was a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Business Honors Organization (Vice President), Beta Alpha Psi (Webmaster), Unity Network (President) and Phi Kappa Phi.   Ferrell worked as an accountant with IBM before joining Acorn.

Acorn Growth Companies is a private enterprise development firm that accelerates the growth and evolution of small, niche-specific companies and, through its affiliate, Acorn Growth Equities, maximizes the value potential of corporate divestiture and closely-held later stage opportunities in key sectors linked to Oklahoma’s largest industrial sector, aerospace. The firm is headquartered in the Tinker Business & Industrial Park adjacent to Tinker Air Force Base.
